ORTHOPEDIC MASSAGE (OM) describes a comprehensive system, rather than a single technique, that involves therapeutic assessment, manipulation and movement of soft tissues to resolve pain and dysfunction. OM’s focus is restoring physical movement and structural balance throughout the body for both prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain.
OM’s multidisciplinary approach looks to resolve the origin of the pain from injuries stemming from sports, trauma, a chronic condition, injury due to poor work ergonomics, scar tissue from surgery or postural imbalances that cause exacerbated pain through daily activities.
THE HESCH METHOD (HM)
Developed by Jerry Hesch, MHS, PT, the Hesch Method is a type of innovative, effective, manual therapy treatment to restore normal joint function by manipulating joints and other body structures. The HM is unique in that it is a BRIEF treatment. Very mild forces are applied in a single direction in order to make lasting change.
MYOSKELETAL ALIGNMENT THERAPY
The Myoskeletal Alignment techniques program was developed by Dr. Erik Dalton as a tool to help relieve the neck and back pain epidemic. By incorporating muscle-balancing techniques with joint mobilization maneuvers, the therapist can identify and correct dysfunctional strain in the body before they become pain patterns.
Advanced Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy (MAT) consists of deep tissue, muscle energy and myofascial mobilization techniques. Integrating these techniques together creates a powerful tool to fight pain. Tight muscles can create asymmetries in the body leading to bad postures and wear and tear on joints. MAT is very effective for rehabilitation, easing the body from pain and correcting faulty postures.
